Web Design

Sue McHale testimonial

It is now a must-have for any new business start-up to have a web site. Apart from marketing, it is just so easy to be able to direct customers, via a web address on your business card, to your web site where they can browse your products and services, get support, or perhaps order something. When you want to update it, you only need to change the web page- imagine recalling a thousand business cards because, er, sorry guys; that information isn't valid any more!

Your first web site need not be complex to do, or expensive. I can offer the following:

Domain registration I can register your chosen domain name with the appropriate authorities. The initial registration period is one year.

Hosting I will host your web site on my hosting service, which gives me control over the site and makes it very easy for me to implement any changes that you may wish to make.

Design You can either specify yourself how you want your web site to look and feel, or I can work with you to produce the graphical design. Either way, between us we will produce a professional looking site that you will be proud of.

Social Media Integration It's vital to connect your web site with Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter and other platforms. Like and Share buttons come as standard but many other options are possible.

Coding I don't use WYSIWIG web design tools, instead I prefer to hand-code all my sites in HTML, PHP, CSS and Javascript. This results in sites that are fast and efficient, and also gives the most flexible approach. Any graphical design at all can be coded in this way, rather than being limited by what you can put where. Similarly, you aren't contrained in terms of functionalty to the available plugins- literally anything is possible.

When your site is ready to go live, I will advertise it to all of the major search engines and perform ongoing technical Search Engine Optimisation work to ensure that you get the visitors

In fact, I can offer you the whole package as a one-stop-shop, including ongoing maintenance of the site.

How much will it cost? This is a very difficult question to answer because there are so many variables. But essentially it boils down to the time I spend working on it. Typically, for a single page with straightforward graphic design and with fairly static content, I would charge around £350, while sites of 4-5 pages would be around £500 for the complete package. But this is only a guide- once I have a view of your exact requirements, I will give you an exact quotation.

Advanced functionality I can offer advanced services such as back end database integration giving you the option of an online catalogue, for example. Or a site where users can register and log into a 'My ......' area, where you could keep for example an online document store or access to their account. I can also offer e-commerce, which is where you sell items through your web site. Typcally, you would have an online catalogue with electronic shopping cart, and the site would have integration to PayPal for online payment.

Looking for somewhere to host your existing site? I can offer to host it on my hosting service, which offers an SLA of 99.9% availability and excellent server and network performance. I can also offer a maintenance service. The cost will vary depending on your requirements and number of updates required; always I will be happy to give you a quotation.

Outgrown your GoDaddy/Wix/WordPress site? Great though they are for getting up and running on the web, you soon run into their limitations. I have worked with a number of clients to port these sites onto my hosting service, and then re-code them so that they can be developed in the way the client wants.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, I can offer a free initial consultation- simply call me on 07425 166256 or get in touch via the contact page
